Scenes from a Playdate

Hey everyone!  I had a really fun playdate the other day with two friends and their children in a beautiful park.  I couldn't NOT bring the camera because it was just about as PERFECT a day as you can get for Southern California!

We all had fun and I was able to catch some great candids!  I'm experimenting with some new editing actions....so see what you think!

The Hatching Gown

tra·di·tion/trəˈdiSHən/Noun

1. The transmission of customs or beliefs from generation to generation, or the fact of being passed on in this way.
*************************************************************************************************************
Since Mother's Day is just around the corner, I've decided to devote some blogs in honor of the amazing people we call Mom!

So with that,  I thought it fitting to share with you a funny tradition in my family started by my Grandma Re on the occasion of her oldest daughter (my mom) becoming a mom (with me!)

Originally started as a silly joke, Grandma Re calls my mother up one day and says...."I'm sending you a Hatching Gown."  That was it.

What is a Hatching Gown????  The gown was actually Grandma Re's grandmother's wedding night gown from 1880.  It was to be worn at some time while pregnant, then passed to the next sibling to wear, and so on.  Grandma Re had 7 children, 26 grandchildren, and now 12 great grandchildren whose names are or will be embroidered on the gown.

Today, my siblings and cousins still pass around the Hatching Gown so anyone expecting can be part of this crazy and wonderful tradition.

Who would have thought an old flour sac nightie was cause such a stir!

Here is my fabulous Grandma Re..a truly beautiful woman and mother!  Circa 1942

My Aunt Nancy, another true beauty.  Circa 1984

Shhhhh......It's for the Kids!

Sorry to be getting this up so late....but I had to let you in on a super fun way to surprise the kids in the morning!!!
Make your own bunny feet!  My kids love this and still look for them outside every year.

All you need is a bunny foot stencil (just get creative), a flour sifter, and flour!

Then....once the kiddos are in bed, stencil all around the outside of your house (inside if you are hard core) with hopping bunny feet.  I have even stenciled hoppy feet at my neighbors houses!

Finally, GRAB your CAMERA on Easter morning and watch the smiles!

Have a wonderful Easter!  Stay FRESH!

Lena Girl!

This is Lena...she is a 13 year old pug, and a real sweetie!  She was kind enough to tolerate my camera for a little bit this week and gave me some great shots.  She is somewhat an inspiration at her age as she is hard of hearing, partially blind, and only has three legs.  You'd never know it by the way she moved around.  She was fun!

Sugar Pie!

Hanging out with this little one was so fun!  She was full of energy, wonder, and smiles.....and those dimples!  Where can I get some dimples?  She was truly a sugar pie to capture!
