Have a little luck in February!

"White Rabbit, White Rabbit, White Rabbit!"  

 Yes, that's right....you'll hear me say it on the first of every month before I say anything else! 


My friends think I'm crazy, but I grew up saying this term, "White Rabbit, White Rabbit, White Rabbit!" for luck.


So, I'm letting you in on my little superstition!  It turns out that I'm not so bizarre.  I checked out my "rabbit saying" on Wikipedia, and it actually explains that saying "Rabbit, rabbit" is a common British superstition where people say some form of the "rabbit" expression upon waking on the first of the month and receive good luck!  You can read more about it at this link:  Rabbit rabbit - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia


Because it is the last day of January.....I thought I'd help you along with a little luck in February, since we can all use some luck.  Right?

The Lost Art of Postcards!


Who likes getting mail?  No, not bills or ads or boring stuff you don't want to open, but handwritten mail that comes from friends or family?  I DO!!!!  Problem is that with all the social networking going on, snail mail is a lost art.  


So.....getting to my point!  If you want to make someone smile, send them a card... OR EVEN BETTER....a postcard....OR EVEN BETTER THAN THAT....a PICTURE POSTCARD!!!


My Grandma Re started this really cool thing....she secretly sent postcards to her children as they approached their 50th birthday.  She had seven kids, so as each one turned 50, all the other older siblings helped send postcards too.  Everyone loved it.  Getting mail everyday for a whole month was wonderful!  Better yet, she had pictures from different parts of their life, and so it was kind of like a mini "This is your life!"   


I got to observe all of this and thought it was so fun!  So, we sent to my baby brother on his 30th, and they did for me on my 40th.  It truly was a gift and I will treasure them always.


Anyway, I've shared some below so you can see what I'm talking about.   


We are now in process of sending to my baby sister for her 40th!!!!  She is loving them and has remarked that she can't wait to get the mail everyday to see her new stash of postcards.  


To make a photo postcard you need to find the backings first.  Check out www.photopostos.com.  You may be able to find these in your local photo store.  Then, just find your favorite 4x6 snapshots, peel and stick the backing, and you are ready to go.  Make someone smile!

Hangin' at the Park

I just love black and white photos!  So, I'm trying to perfect them in my editing.  Here is my latest twist at a classic black and white.  I'm kind of on a black and white kick!  

 These two sweet gentlemen were having a day at the park with friends!  I love these photos because they are completely candid from our time together.  They played, snacked, and enjoyed the beautiful weather.  I was lucky enough to be able to snap the camera away.  Hopefully we've preserved a beautiful afternoon in time!

Little Men in Uniform!

I couldn't resist sharing my little men in uniform!  What is it about a uniform that makes your heart melt???  My guys love their scout garb, and I can't help but smile when I see them all gussied up!  They are growing up so fast; it makes pictures like these extra special.  Have a fabulous week!

Happy New Year Everyone!  I hope that 2011 is wonderful for us all!  I am excited for Fresh this year as I have big plans and new ideas!  To start, I want to thank all of you for your continued support!  It is all of you that make Fresh a success, I couldn't do it without you.  Thank you, thank you, thank you, and here's to a fabulous 2011!


To kick the year off, I have some exciting news....Fresh will launch a new website very soon (so stay tuned).  It will be more informative and just a little different.  I can't wait!
